Yesterday saw the release of HEARTMAN's final cover design complete with a wonderful new author quote by the brilliant thriller writer, Emlyn Rees. There have been times when I never thought I'd see the day that my book would have such an atmospheric and beautifully designed jacket that it does today and to venture that it would one day hit the book shelves was another matter entirely. Well scarily soon, Heartman will hit the stores. Waterstones website informs me that as of this morning, Thursday May 22nd there are only 40 days till publication. 40 days! I have to pinch myself still to get my brain to understand that its all really happening, but happening it is and the reality has started to kick in. Heartman has a July 1st publication date and on that very same day I kick off a UK book tour that starts with a major launch at Foyles Books in Cabot Circus, Bristol. Later that same week, we have a wonderful launch party at Belgravia Books in London and nearing the end of that busy week on Saturday the 5th of July, I'll be signing at Waterstones Book shop in the High Cross in my home town of Leicester. This will then be followed by a little 'shin dig' at the Salmon Free House in the city. the Salmon is the home of the DEM BONES Brewery and the pub where I am proudly 'Writer in Residence'. The brewers at DEM BONES, Lance & Claire Sullen and landlord, Steve Jackman have kindly created a new beer based on a character from Heartman - 'Vic's Tipple' is a summer ale, packed with Citra hops and will be on sale on the day along with the wonderful black IPA 'Ellington's Ale'. If you are in Leicester on July 5th and get the chance please pop down to the Salmon and try one off these very special brews.
But before we hit July and publication of the book I am excited to announce that I have been invited to take part in this years, Leicester Book Festival. On Friday June 13th I will be appearing at The Bookshop Kibworth and undertaking my first ever personal reading of Heartman. There'll be a brief talk about the the creation of my Bajan detective, Joseph Tremaine Ellington followed by a Q&A. 'Vic's Tipple' will be premiered there for the first time and they'll be the chance to win a signed, 'First Edition' of Heartman. This is a guest list event. Earlier this month, my publishers, Black & White publishing premiered the HEARTMAN book trailer. Designers Creative Link and Michael Patterson who created the trailer have done a magnificent job in capturing the real essence of my book.
